BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Members of the C.W.
Post softball team recently volunteered at the 4th Annual
“Kicks for Cancer” fundraiser at Hauppauge High
School. The fundraiser was created by team member Alexis
Gonzalez, in memory of her friend, Courtney Tomkin. Courtney
was a student at Hauppauge, who was diagnosed with brain cancer and
unfortunately lost her battle with the disease.
The event consisted of selling raffle tickets, t-shirts, food and
drinks, games and rides. All of the money raised goes to the
Making Headway Foundation as well as the American Cancer
Society.
Each year, the event continues the grow and this year 26 high
schools participated, which has pushed the fundraising total to
$87,000 in three years. The event hoped to reach the $100,000
mark this year.
