Central Islip, NY- St. Thomas Aquinas College boasted a 3.26 women's lacrosse team GPA to join West Chester University and Pfeiffer University on the 2008 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Merit Squad. Adelphi University, C.W. Post and Molloy College rounded out the top Division II academic teams in the nation as they earned IWLCA Academic Squad honors.
Teams that have a collective GPA of 3.0 or greater earned the distinction of Academic Squad; the squads with the three highest team GPAs earned the honor of being named a Merit Squad. National Champion West Chester was named a Merit Squad, posting the highest team GPA in the nation.
The East Coast Conference also held a strong presence on the Academic Honor Roll, as 17 of the 45 student-athletes played for ECC institutions. Players must have achieved at least junior year status and have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
National runner-up C.W. Post, St. Thomas Aquinas and Molloy each placed four student-athletes on the list with national semifinalist Adelphi and Dowling adding three players and two players respectively.
Mallory Poole of C.W. Post was one of three IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Americans to earn a spot on Honor Roll for the second consecutive year. The IWLCA Scholar-Athlete of the Year is a member of the United States national women's lacrosse team and represented the USA at the 2008 Prague Cup.
