Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team defeated the Lions of Lincoln University, 11-3, Sunday afternoon at Mitchel Field. Molloy improves to 31-14 overall and 18-5 in ECC play, while Lincoln moves to 11-31-1 overall and 4-15 overall.
How it Happened
- After a scoreless first inning, Molloy batted around in the second frame rallying to six runs. Junior Matt Yip doubled to score a pair of runs, sophomore JJ DeVito singled home a run, junior Garrett Scavelli knocked in a run with a single, and junior Gavin McAlonie capped the inning with a two-run single to give Molloy a 6-0 lead.
- Graduate student Chris Peralta added onto the lead when he drove a double into the gap to score a run to push the lead to 7-0.
- Two more runs crossed the plate in the fourth, DeVito smacked a solo home run and junior Aidan Larkin recorded a sacrifice fly to keep the cardinal and white in control, 9-0.
- In the sixth, graduate student Mike Andreoli executed a perfect pick off at second base to prevent to an early inning threat.
- But the road team would not let it rattle them as they scored three runs later in the inning to cut the deficit to six, 9-3.
- A pair of sacrifice flies from DeVito in the sixth and McAlonie in the seventh put Molloy in double digits, 11-3.
- The road team tallied a run in the ninth, but Molloy would go onto win, 11-4.

- DeVito blasted his fourth home run of the season while scoring three runs and driving in three.
- McAlonie knocked in three runs and drew a pair of walks.
- Yip collected two hits and two RBIs.
- Graduate student Mike Andreoli pitched six innings allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six to improve to 7-0 on the season.
