Bloomfield, N.J. – After 90 minutes of soccer, the Molloy men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with the Bears of Bloomfield College Wednesday night at Foley Field. Molloy moved to 4-2-5, while the Bears moved to 1-5-3.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Nick Conklu began the contest with consecutive saves.
- In the 5th minute, freshman Adam Lesniewski put a header on goal that was saved by Bloomfield goalkeeper Matthew Brun.
- The Bears backline kept the Molloy chances to none in the first 30 minutes of action.
- In the 32nd minute, Lesniewski found himself with another header opportunity but was denied.
- Bloomfield looked to break the seal, but Conklu came up with his third save in the opening half.
- With 26 seconds remaining in the first stanza, junior Danny Muir had his opportunity saved. The game went into halftime without a score.
- Sophomore Gio Fabiano opened the second half with a shot that was denied by the Bloomfield goalkeeper.
- Conklu was tested in the 59th minute, as the goalkeeper was forced to make two saves in a 14 second span to keep the game scoreless.
- 20 minutes later, Muir found himself with a chance to score, but again was denied gas Bloomfield goalie Matthew Brun matched Conklu save for save.
- The home team would generate one more scoring chance by Yefry Rodriguez, but Conklu would shut the door in the 88th minute.
- On the counterattack, Molloy looked to score another late game winner, but Muirs chance was denied, ending the contest in a 0-0 draw.
