Amorison, Rugolo Power Women's Lacrosse to Third Straight Victory

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team, led by a combined nine goals and 13 points from Alexa Amorison and Megan Rugolo, took down Georgian Court University, 14-13, this afternoon from the RVC Sports Complex, to improve to 3-3 on the season.

How it Happened

  • The teams finished the first quarter tied at two, with Molloy getting on the board on a free position goal from Joanna Mauceri and Rugolo's first goal of the day.
  • The cardinal and white dominated the second quarter, outscoring the visiting Lions 7-2 to take a 9-4 lead into the half. Amorison capped off the quarter with a goal in the final 80 seconds of the frame.
  • Georgian Court came roaring back out of the break and cut the Molloy lead to 10-8 after a Riley O'Connor free position goal with just four seconds left in the third quarter.
  • Two quick Molloy goals put the home team back up by four, but three straight GCU goals cut the lead to 12-11 with under five minutes to play.
  • The teams traded goals until Amorison scored her fifth of the game to put Molloy up by two with 1:27 to play. The defense held strong to preserve the victory.

  • Amorison led the way for the Lions with an eight point day, scoring five goals and dishing out three assists.
  • Rugolo tallied four goals and one assist while also leading the team with seven draw controls.
  • Ryan Smith led the cardinal and white with three ground balls and caused one turnover.
