Krista Pellizzi, Gordon Purdie and Josh Blumenthal will appear in the upcoming World Games.
Garden City, N.Y. - Three members of the Adelphi University lacrosse program will play and coach in the upcoming Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) men's and women's lacrosse World Games.
Women's lacrosse Assistant coach Krista Pellizzi has been selected to the 2009 Women's Irish National Lacrosse team that will compete in the FIL Women's World Cup this June in Prague, Czech Republic.
Pellizzi, a former four-year letter winner and two-time IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American for the University of Maryland Terrapins, was selected out of 70 candidates for the 18-player roster.
A former five-time Australian world team member, head men's coach Gordon Purdie will make the transition from the field to sideline. The Australian native Purdie, a former 1994 Best Midfielder in the World award winner, is among a small number of lacrosse players to have played in five separate world games competitions, which spanned a 16-year period.
Panthers assistant coach Josh Blumenthal will return to the international scene as a member of the Bermuda National Lacrosse team coaching staff.
Blumenthal, who will be in his second tour with the squad after serving as associate head coach last summer in the FIL Under-19 world games, helped guide the team to a second place division finish.
Purdie and Blumenthal will join their respective teams in July of 2010 at the FIL Men's Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England.
