For the second consecutive week, five ECC schools were included
in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s
NCAA Division II national rankings.
The same five schools from last week’s rankings once again
made the list, but in different spots on the poll. Two-time
defending national champion, C.W. Post fell off their perch of the
top spot after suffering their first loss of the season to league
rival Dowling. The 8-7 overtime victory catapulted the Golden Lions
up two spots to the No. 3 position, making them the ECC’s
highest ranked team.
C.W. Post, which now owns a 9-1 record on the year, is one spot
behind Dowling at No.4 and is followed by another ECC member,
Mercyhurst, at No. 5. The Lakers, currently 6-1, will host Dowling
this weekend in a pivotal ECC contest.
Mercy is the next ECC members in the poll, coming in at No. 8. The
Mavericks dropped one spot from last week despite a perfect 2-0
record on the week.
Rounding out the ECC members on the poll is NYIT, who move up three
spots into an eighth place tie with Mercy. After starting out the
season 0-2, the Bears have bounced back with four straight
wins.
Taking over the No. 1 position in the poll is Limestone. A perfect
9-0 record earned Limestone all ten first place votes.
