Dowling's Taylor Named 2010 DII Assistant Coach of the Year

Baltimore, Md. - Mike Taylor, assistant coach for the Dowling Men's Lacrosse team, was recently named the 2010 Division II Assistant Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) at their annual convention.

Taylor, a former starter for the Golden Lions from 1991-1994 and the team's leading scorer in his last three years, recently completed his 10th season as assistant coach for Dowling, helping lead the team to the NCAA National Semifinals. His knowledge and skills on the offensive side has been a large factor in numerous Golden Lions making All-American teams, most recently John McClure and Kyle O'Brien being named to the USILA First Team in 2010.

In addition to McClure and O'Brien earning All-America honors, both went on to be selected in the 2010 National Lacrosse League (NLL) draft.

Taylor has contributed to the Golden Lions being ranked in the top 10 nationally in each of his seasons as assistant coach at Dowling, earning the team two bids in the NCAA Division II postseason including a 2006 appearance in the National Final.
