STARKVILLE, Miss. (Mar. 31, 2010) – The National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association put out its Top-25 ledger on Wednesday morning, and the Molloy College softball team was slotted 20th on the poll. This marks the first time in program history that the Lions have ever achieved a national ranking. Last weekend, Molloy earned two victories in a doubleheader against Southern New Hampshire University to improve to 14-4 on the season.
In the circle, freshman left-hander Megan Butterworth (North Bellmore, N.Y.) owns a 7-1 record and an earned run average of 1.31. She has also collected 53 strikeouts thus far, and presently holds the opposition to nine walks and a .185 batting average against. Meanwhile, with the bat, Butterworth sports a team-high .472 average. Sophomore first baseman Carla Campagna (Floral Park, N.Y.) is hitting .407 with three homers and 15 RBI. She also has a .678 slugging and .455 on-base percentage. Plus, Campagna leads the squad with 92 putouts.
