Player of the Week

Kristina Wargo, Molloy (So., M, Hicksville, N.Y. / Hicksville HS) - Recorded 10 goals and added two assists in a 2-1 week.  In addition, she picked up four groundballs and four draw controls.  During an 18-7 victory over St. Anselm, Wargo notched six goals and in a 23-3 victory over AIC she recorded two goals and an assist.  During the 17-7 loss to Stonehill, Wargo scored two goals and handed out an assist. 

Goalkeeper of the Week

Caitlin Fitzpatrick, Adelphi (So., GK, Port Washington, N.Y. / Paul D. Scriber) - Helped the Panthers to a 2-0 start to the season with saves in 90:00 minutes for a 6.67 GAA.

Rookie of the Week

Michelle Ceraso, Adelphi (Fr., A, Massapequa, N.Y. / Kellenberg) - Tallied seven goals and one assist in an 18-9 season opening victory over Southern New Hampshire.  She followed up with a three goal, one assist effort against Assumption.

ECC Notebook

ECC: In the IWLCA preseason poll, C.W. Post stood No. 1, and Adelphi was No. 4.

Adelphi: The #4 ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team, under the direction of first year head coach Joe Spallina, opened the 2008 season with convincing victories over Southern New Hampshire and Assumption College. Junior Rachel Ray tallied 15 points on the week.  She had five assists and three goals against Assumption and two goals and five assists in the season-opener at Southern New Hampshire. Freshman Michelle Ceraso tallied seven goals and one assist in the team's 18-9 victory over Penmen. She followed up with a three goal, one assist effort against the Greyhounds. Sophomore Caitlin Fitzpatrick helped the Panthers to a 2-0 start to the season.  She had 18 saves in 90:00 minutes for a 6.67 Goals Against Average on the week. The Panthers return to action next Sunday, March 16, as they host Merchyhurst in their season home opener at 12 noon.  All home games will be played at Hofstra University's James Shuart Stadium.

C.W. Post: The Pioneers (1-0), ranked 1st in the nation by the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse, will host Mercyhurst in their home opener on Mar. 14 at 3 p.m. on Hickox Field.

Molloy: The Lady Lions went 2-1 on the week with victories over St. Anselm and AIC and a loss to Stonehill.  Kristina Wargo recorded 10 goals, while Rebecca LaFlare had six goals and three assists.  Alicia Frisch picked up her first two wins in net as she recorded a 10.27 GAA and made 15 saves over the three games.
