Players of the Week
Katie Hogan, C.W. Post (Jr., M, Farmingdale, N.Y. / Farmingdale) - Scored four goals and two assists with four draw controls, in a 13-6 win over No. 5 Stonehill.
Allison Kessler, Philadelphia (Sr., M, Burtonsville, Md. / Springbrook) - Notched 14 points (8g, 6 a) and eight draw controls in a 3-0 week. Scored the game-winner in a 24-12 win at Chestnut Hill.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Lauren Scipione, C.W. Post (Sr., East Meadow, N.Y. / East Meadow) - Made nine saves and allowed only six goals in a 13-6 win over No. 5 Stonehill.
Rookie of the Week
Ashely Ferrandiz, New Haven (Fr., M, West Sayville, N.Y. / Sayville H.S.) - Netted four goals, two assists, nine groundballs and five draw controls in a 1-1 week.
ECC Notebook
ECC: In the most recent IWLCA Division II national poll (4/22), C.W. Post remained the nation's top ranked team, while Adelphi was No. 3 and New Haven was No. 8.
C.W. Post: The Pioneers, ranked No. 1 by the
IWLCA poll for the 10th straight week, won their only game of the
week, a 13-6 victory over No. 5 Stonehill. The win secures a
spot in the upcoming NCAA Championship Tournament to be held in
Houston, Texas in May. C.W. Post will play Adelphi University on
Friday, May 2 at 3 p.m. on Hickox Field. The winner
will clinch the ECC regular season title.
New Haven: The University of New Haven women's
lacrosse team wrapped its final week of the season with a 1-1
finish. On Thursday the Chargers defeated Bentley College
16-15. UNH held on after their opponents scored the match's
final nine goals. Brigid Brady, the team's leading goal
scorer, tallied six goals versus the Falcons. On Saturday,
New Haven wrapped up its season dropping an 11-9 decision to
conference foe Philadelphia University. Kristine Lambracht,
Mallory Ferrandiz and Ashley Ferrandiz each had two goals in the
losing effort. UNH finishes the season at 14-3, 3-3
ECC. Their 14 wins are twice as many as the program's
previous high of seven.
Philadelphia: Senior Shannon Shippey (Freeport,
N.Y./Freeport) has now tallied 96 career goals for the Lady Rams,
with three games remaining in the season in the coming week for the
talented attacker to reach the century mark.
Molloy: In their only game of the week, the Lady Lions dropped a non-conference game to Gannon University. Kristina Wargo had four goals and two assists, while Kristie Sosnowski added three goals. Maria Varricchio contributed a goal and handed out three assists. Alicia Frisch made seven saves in net.
