Molloy's Sosnowski Crowned National Statistical Champion for Draw Controls

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jun. 8, 2009) - This past week, the National
Collegiate Athletic Association announced junior midfielder Kristie
Sosnowski (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) of the Molloy College women's
lacrosse team as the 2009 NCAA Division II Statistical Champion for draw
controls. She receives this prestigious accolade following a campaign
that saw her post an average of 8.43 draws per game. Sosnowski also
registered 38 points in the process off 31 goals and seven assists to go
with her 41 ground balls.

A breakout year for Sosnowski, she has also been named to the All-East
Coast Conference first-team and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse
Coaches Association All-North Region second-team. Moreover, the NCAA
recognized Sosnowski in the Top-100 in two other statistical categories.
She ranked 40th in ground balls per game (2.79) and 96th in goals per
match (2.0). Amongst the ECC, Sosnowski served as the leader in draw
control and ground ball average. She was also ninth in shots per game
and 10th in goals per game.

Head Coach Tom Campolettano and the Lions ended off the 2009 season
with an overall ledger of 7-9 and an East Coast Conference record of
1-3. Senior defender Kelly LaClair (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and junior
attacker Rebecca LaFlare (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took home honors in
addition to Sosnowski. Aside from both players making their way onto the
IWLCA All-North Region squad, LaClair grabbed All-ECC first-team
recognition, while LaFlare took home second-team distinction from the
league.
