Central Islip, NY - Dowling College sophomore goalkeeper Rachael Goldstein (Ridge, New York) has been named the 2009 East Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Working towards a degree in psychology, Goldstein boasts a nearly perfect 3.95 GPA. The starting goalkeeper had a breakout season for the Golden Lions, ranking third in the ECC in saves per game (8) and save percentage (.456). Goldstein helped Dowling to a 9-4 record in their second year of existence which included two wins against nationally ranked opponents during the regular season.
East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of Year Award recipients are nominated by their institution and voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
