Bridgeport, CT-It was a historic night on Wednesday for University of Bridgeport senior forward Sofia Hoflin (Ostersund, Sweden), as she helped the Purple Knights post a 3-0 non-conference women's soccer home win over the Georgian Court Lions. After assisting on junior Elin Svavarsdottir's (Reykjavik, Iceland) goal that opened the scoring in the match at the 11:44 mark, Hoflin became the all-time leading goal scorer in University of Bridgeport women's soccer history when she scored her 57 career goal on a penalty kick at the 77:19 mark snapping a tie at 56 career goals with Lilja Valthorsdottir, who wore UB colors from 2002-2005. The goal and the assist also give Sofia 137 career points which ties her atop the UB career list in that category also with Valthorsdottir.
Hoflin leads Bridgeport in scoring so far in 2009 with five goals and three assist for 13 points.
